Benefits Of SDD Drives For Your Computer
Thursday, May 19th, 2011
Up until quite recently all of the storage drives in the computer that we have been buying have been hard disk drives and this is the way that it has been for many years with the market dominated by companies such as Seagate, Maxtor, Iomega and Western Digital. But now things are changing and you can already buy solid state drives for any existing computer that will directly replace the internal hard drive if they should break down for any reason. These new SSD drive models are not disks like their predecessors as they all of there storage is in solid state flash memory.
In other words SSD drives store on all their data in a bank of memory chips instead of on a moving disk platter. Therefore a SSD has no moving parts. This makes them much more robust and much more suitable for all aspects of mobile computing where the chances of your computer getting knocked while in use or even dropped are much higher. These new memory only drives are now becoming standard issue in the new small netbooks that have recently become so popular as they can actually take up less space and power and require less cooling, so they are also much quieter as well!
